Obituary of Patricia Greene

 

Pat Ryan Greene, 93, of Minneapolis, passed away on October 7, 2024 in Minneapolis, MN.

Pat was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 14, 1930, and, after graduating from St. Clement High School, went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Rochester and eventually a Master of Arts at the University of Minnesota.  After raising her loving family of six children, she went on to serve on the staff at St. Joan of Arc Church for 4 years and then to a career as writer/editor at MSI Insurance for 17 years.  Pat served as president of the Minnesota Press Club and the ElderLearning Institute (now OLLI) at the University of Minnesota.  After retirement she served as a docent at both the Weisman Art Museum and the Walker Art Center.  As a freelance writer, Pat had more than 50 published magazine articles and book reviews. Throughout her life she worked and advocated tirelessly to advance peace and justice and traveled extensively all over the globe.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother Marie Dahm Ryan, father Dr. Lawrence Ryan, step-mother Eleanor Harol Ryan and sister Elena Ryan Buil.

She is survived by her children Larry, Mary Catherine and her partner Deb Johnson, Peg Lamin and her partner Edgar, Mike and his wife Charlotte Bentch, Tom and his partner Virginia Nacionales, and Chris and his wife Lynn Williams, as well as her grandchildren Torey Winter, Katie Gronevelt, Sidique Lamin, and Ryan Greene, her sister Corinne Trucco, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
