Obituary of Connie Fisk

Constance (Connie) Fisk, beloved mother, grandmother, educator, sister, and friend transitioned to Heaven on October, 17, 2024 at the age of 83. Her passing was peaceful, pain free, and surrounded by family after a brief journey with cancer. Her life reflected her faith in Jesus, marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to help those around her.

Born on September 27, 1941, to Noble and Grace (Malone) Ponsor and sister to Marigrace, Connie was raised on the family farm in Albert City, IA. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Gustavus Adolphus College and her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. A dedicated special education teacher, Connie served children with unique needs, teaching with love and patience. She primarily taught in St. Paul area schools, with 25 years spent at Harding High School before teaching at Northwood Technical College after retirement.

Connie married Wilbur (Bill) Fisk on December 21, 1968 in Albert City, IA. They were married for 34 years until his death in 2003. She was a devoted mother, and was Amy and Aaron’s constant encourager even into their adulthood. A doting grandmother, Connie was a fixture at dance recitals, theater productions, band concerts, cross country races and more as she delighted in her grandchildren’s growth and cheered them on. Her outings with her grandkids are favorite childhood memories involving the Dollar Store, play grounds, ice cream, libraries, MN State Fair, museums, zoos and whatever other fun they found along the way.

Connie was a fiercely independent person who didn't want fuss. She traveled to all seven continents and an uncounted number of countries. She proudly lived on her own, mowing her own lawn, cutting down trees (to Amy and Aaron’s dismay), swimming at the YMCA, playing bridge, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

Connie was always there to lend a hand, whether through her church, her community, or simply quietly meet an individual need. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI and volunteered for Relay for Life, Operation Help, Fresh Harvest, and the Hudson Backpack program. Her life of service reflected her love for God, and her desire to share that love through service to others.

She is survived by her loving daughter Amy (Chad), her son Aaron (Julie), her sister Marigrace, and her cherished grandchildren Kinsey, Katie, Elizabeth and Jonathan.  Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on through them, as well as through the many lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, Noble and Grace Ponsor, and brothers-in-law, Allen Fisk and James Sievers.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church (downtown campus) in Hudson, WI. Visitation is at 12-2 p.m. at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, Connie requests donations be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, Hudson Backpack Program or Operation Help – some of her favorite nonprofit organizations.

Though she has left this earthly life, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, who has greeted her with the most wonderful phrase possible; "Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23.
