Obituary of Robert H. Schmitz

Robert “Bob” H. Schmitz, age 97, was born June 27, 1927, and went to his heavenly home on October 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Beverly; parents, Bernard and Marie; and brothers Ben, Ed, and Fred. Bob is survived by his children, Todd Schmitz and Jean Ruggles; grandchildren Teresa (Matt) Ward, Rachael (Zach) Beaman, and Michael Ruggles; great-grandchildren Tyler, Andrew, and Emma Ward, and Siena Beaman; sister Mary Jo Walden; and many nieces and nephews. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy and dedicated thirty-two years in service with the Saint Paul Fire Department, serving as Captain for many years. Many thanks to Oak Meadows, Harbor Crossing, and HealthPartners Hospice for the loving care they provided to Bob. Dad, we will always remember what you and mom said, “Love you today, tomorrow, and always!” A private service for immediate family only will be held at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or a charity of your choice.
