Obituary of Rebecca J Rohland
Rebecca “Becky” Fookes Rohland, 74, a beacon of faith, hope and joy, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 5, 1950, Becky lived a life defined by her unwavering faith in Christ. She faced life’s hurdles with grace and incredible resilience. Becky prayed regularly for others and had a ministry of intercession.
Becky is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Rohland, her parents Pastor Albert and Helen Fookes, and sister-in-law Sandy Fookes. She is survived by her brothers Jim Fookes and John Fookes, nephews, family members and friends. Her memory will especially be held dear by close friends known as “The SonShine Gals”, who treasured her friendship.
Becky had a keen mind and loving spirit. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, majoring in Social Studies, and Houghton College, majoring in Psychology. She headed up an International Student Group that encouraged multi-cultural students in their walk with Christ. She served as Executive Assistant at Elim Care, now Cassia Assisted Living, for 32 years. She and her husband Bob enjoyed travel adventures and time at the cabin at The Wilderness Fellowship Ministry, where they were married. Becky was a devoted “mom” to her dogs, cats and parrot, and nurturing to many children who she loved. She and Bob enjoyed life in Montrose, MN and loved their church family.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Becky’s life on November 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church, 5939 Oliver Ave SW, Cokato, MN 55321 with visitation at 10:00 am. Interment of ashes to follow service at the cemetery next to the church, with lunch and fellowship following.
