Obituary of Valatrice E. Nordin
Val was raised in Minneapolis graduating from Central HS in 1945. In 1948 she completed her initial nurses training at Northwestern. She then went to work in Crookston, MN before returning to the cities to complete her RN at the University of MN. Val went on to work at the U of M Hospital, Mpls. General as well as stints in Chicago and New York City. In 1963 she married Mel Nordin and they moved to Lakeville. After having her two children, she went back to school and achieved Master's in Public Health and Education. She then spent the remainder of her career in IDS 196 and Valley Middle. Following retirement, Val spent 12 years on the board at Fairview Ridges. Valatrice was a people person and liked staying involved. She loved serving the needs of her church, being a Parliamentarian and singing in her church and community choir. She valued her friendships from life-long friends, Mary, Bev and Roz; beloved Nativity family; all her nursing pals; as well as fellow singers; and neighbors. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Betty; brother Fred; and loved husband Mel. She is survived by children Todd (Angie), Meridith, Toby (Marilee) Leonard; grandkids Ian, Evan and Declan; in-laws Priscilla, Bette, Margie and Sandy; as well as much-loved nieces and nephews.
