Obituary of Howard H Templin

Howard Henry Templin, aged 91, passed away on October 2, 2024, in Anoka, MN. Born on July 7, 1933,

Howard was known for his friendly, social nature and competitive spirit, particularly in sports. A proud veteran, he served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956, specializing in Aviation Electronics, a field that set the stage for his future career. Howard's professional journey was marked by innovation and entrepreneurship. He worked as a computer technician, traveling globally to install and repair mainframe computers.

His entrepreneurial spirit shone as he and his family built and operated three A&W Restaurants, starting with the first in McGregor in 1972. Howard eventually retired as a school bus driver for the Robbinsdale School District. Outside of work, Howard's hobbies included playing bar bingo, an activity he enjoyed with many friends in his later years. He was also an avid bowler and golfer and loved hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, embracing the great outdoors throughout his life.

Howard is survived by a loving family, including his daughters Shelly Brand and Wendy (Greg) Anderson; granddaughters Jessica Meyer, Angela (Jim) Brand, Samantha (Dan) Barthel, Gena (James) Wallraff; grandson Christopher Anderson; great-granddaughters Taylor and Madison Tice, Grace and Kaylie Barthel; great-grandsons Aiden and Cash Wallraff; brother in-law Alden (Mary) Yungner; sister-in-law Bonnie Yungner; many nephews and nieces; and brother Ernie Templin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents, Beatrice and Henry Templin; brother, Jim Templin; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean, Bill, and Darlene Yungner.

A memorial service will be held on October 23, 2024, at 11 am with visitation beginning at 10 am at Glen Cary Lutheran Church (15531 Central Ave NE, Ham Lake, MN). Howard's life was marked by his zest for life, love for his family, and dedication to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
