Obituary of Joan B Singh

In Loving Memory of Joan B. Singh 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, Joan Basmati Singh, who peacefully left this world on September 28, 2024, at the age of 70. She was born on November 22,1953 at Hague, Guyana - South America. 

Joan grew up with a love for her family and a passion for helping others. She attended Cornelia Ida primary school and was crowned May queen for her class. She dedicated much of her life to her family especially her loving grand-children whom she adored. 

Joan was known for her kindness, sharp wit, and a heart as warm as her famous homemade bara. She enjoyed planting flowers, going to the farmers market and spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her ‘Dearsie and Makka’. Her family and friends will always remember her gentle spirit, infectious smile and unwavering strength.

She is preceded in death by her father Harry, Mother Bagmania, stepmother Sookia and daughter Nirmala Singh. She is survived by her husband Tom, kids, Shivanie (Nick), Vidya (Andrew), Ravi (Sarita) and six grandchildren, Deven, Shalina, Sonali, Surina, Kavini and Trishti. Also, her sister Jean of Canada and brother Michael of Guyana, lots of nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in laws, cousins, other relatives and many friends. 

Funeral service for the late Joan Singh will be held on Wednesday, October 9th 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Cremation Society of Minnesota, Brooklyn Park. 

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
