Obituary of Brooke Chapman
Brooke Chapman, age 44, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away September 10, 2024 after a three year battle with cancer. Brooke was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 6, 1980 to Jim and Eta Chapman. Brooke and her family moved to Albia, Iowa in 1982. Brooke attended the Albia Community Schools until her graduation from high school. Brooke loved sports and games – she was active in all extra curricular activities but especially loved softball, earning five varsity letters in softball, and 15 varsity letters in total. In addition to softball, she played volleyball, basketball, tennis, track and was on the community swim team. Brooke attended Iowa State University earning a BA degree in design. She designed theater sets and painted murals. After college she worked in various store locations for Target Corporation until her promotion to Target headquarters in Minneapolis where she was Senior Business Partner – Space and Presentation at the time of her passing. In Minnesota Brooke embraced the cold and played BroomBall in the winter months and co-ed softball in the warmer months. She also enjoyed spending her free time with family, playing the guitar and singing with her dad, coaxing family to play games around the table, making s’mores around a campfire, and cooking and experimenting with recipes. She picked up her mom’s love of hand quilting and became quite proficient. She dreamed of designing her perfect house from scratch or purchasing an older home and convincing her dad to help her renovate it. Brooke had special relationships with her siblings, being a loving listener and always full of decorating ideas. Brooke was a favorite Team-Lead at work for many reasons, including her hand-making of themed “Spot” dogs in costume each year for her team.
Brooke is survived by her parents, Jim and Eta Chapman, of Albia, Iowa, her siblings: Wendy Chapman of Ankeny, Iowa, Chad Chapman (Shayla) of Granger, Iowa, and Drew Chapman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a niece, Chayse, a nephew, Alec, both of Granger, Iowa, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her very special Minnesota friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 4th, 2024 from 1 to 4 pm at the BLVD Kitchen 11544 Wayzata Boulevard, Minnetonka, MN 55305
