Obituary of Charles Orlow Shoquist

Charles "Chuck" Shoquist, age 86, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Born in Clinton, MN in 1938 to Orlow and Gladys Shoquist, Chuck cherished his small-town upbringing in Clinton throughout his life. Later, he moved to Minneapolis, MN, where he met Pauline, the love of his life. Their 64 year marriage began on May 21, 1960, and together they raised two children, Mark and Jennifer.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Chuck enjoyed both playing and watching a variety of sports. He was a devoted fan of Minnesota's college and professional teams, cheering for the Gophers Vikings, Twins, North Stars, and Wild. His greatest joy, however, came from supporting his son Mark at games he played in and coached, as well as watching his grandchildren’s activities, which brought him endless pride.

For over 40 years, Chuck worked as a skilled carpet layer, providing for his family while making many friends along the way. Though Clinton was his childhood home, Chuck's heart belonged to Richfield, MN, where he formed many lifelong friendships.

Chuck and Pauline shared a passion for travel, and their adventures took them around the world, though Hawaii held a special place in their hearts—they visited 15 times over the years. Chuck’s love for family and fun was evident in every trip and gathering with friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Orlow Shoquist and Gladys Boutang; his sisters Mary Ellen Nash and Nancy Garner; his brother David Shoquist; and brothers-in-law Harry Nash, Kevin Porter, Bill Garner, Tom Sodergren and Scott Yale and his sister-in-law Julie Ramberg.

He is survived by his wife Pauline; beloved children, Mark (Jill) Shoquist of Lakeville, MN, and Jennifer Shoquist of Grand Junction, CO; his treasured grandchildren, Tegan, Keely, and Jake Shoquist; his siblings LouAnn Garner, Marshall Shoquist, Rebecca Porter, Susan Sodergren, and Virginia (Allan) Melikian; his in-laws Barb Yale, Marlene (Gary) Streich, Rick Ramberg; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their deep gratitude to the staff at New Perspective Senior Living in Prior Lake for their warm and compassionate care.
