I will always remember Fred. He was a year behind me at Lawrence. We were both on the swim team that won the Midwest Conference Championship when Fred was a sophomore. He died on my birthday, Sept 16, so I will always think of him each year at that time. I grew up right next door to Edina when I was young before moving to Milwaukee to start high school. I moved east to work in the computer business after getting a Masters in Computer Science so I had no more occasions to see Fred but as I close my eyes right now I can see his smiling face in the pool after we had won another medley relay together. I am including two pictures. One was of our conference championship team. You have probably seen this before. Another which you may not have seen has Fred's name in the headlines.
