Obituary of Marilethe Alyce Hohnadel
Marilethe Alyce Hohnadel age 83 of Hawley Mn passed away Sunday night, September 15, in Maplewood, Minnesota.
Mary was born to Owen and Genevieve (Bakken) Brandser on March 13, 1941 in Moorhead, Minnesota. Mary attended and graduated Hawley Public School in 1959 where her mom was a teacher. In high school, she was part of the national honor society, loved being in the band program, senior play, and spending time with her friends.
After high school, she became a beautician via the Josef School of Hair. She worked in Minneapolis and traveled Europe with friends before moving back to Hawley and working at The Hair Loft in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Mary met Michael in Moorhead at a dance, fell in love, and they were united in marriage in 1975.
She eventually bought The Hair Loft and ran the business for many years until selling it to focus on raising her kids and working as a independent hairdresser at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. Mary enjoyed working with the residents and making them feel beautiful.
Mary was a member of the Hawley Lutheran church, loving mother, and a great friend to many.
Her favorite hobbies included crafts, traveling with friends and family, and being with family any chance she got. Later in life she loved music videos, playing catch, eating out, reading letters, and dancing, She was genuine and loving, and she had a very special soul.
Mary moved to Centerville, Minnesota with family in 2021. She enjoyed the company of the family cats and dogs, and she lived at home until she passed away after bravely battling Lewy body dementia.
Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Michael. She is survived by her sister Becky (Al) Clark, son Jonathan (Kristin) Hohnadel, daughter Rebecca Lizotte, and beloved granddaughters, Genevieve and Mikah Lizotte.
A celebration of life for Mary is being planned and will happen at a later time.
