Dean Seguin

Obituary of Dean B Seguin

Dean Seguin, age 87, died on September 11th, 2024 at Mercy Hospital after a 10-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was the much beloved husband to Judy Seguin - their timeless love story spanned 47 years - dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota he was the son of Della and Eugene Segiun.  He grew up in North Minneapolis with his parents and sister, Sherry and graduated from Henry High School (NKA Camden) in 1955.  Dean was particularly proud to have served in the United States marines from 1955 to 1963.  He considered serving in the marines as one of the greatest honors of his life - once a marine, always a marine. After his military service, he worked at Wendell’s as an engraver of specialty coins and medallions until he retired in 2004.  Though he never bragged about his work, he was a true master of his craft.

Dean approached all things in life with an unmatched sense of vim and vigor and always fancied himself a cowboy born in the city.  He loved animals, classic cars, and classic country music.  He enjoyed putzing in his home or yard, tending to the myriad of animals he had, woodworking, and building/fixing things - though he refused to ever read instructions when doing so. He also loved to watch every sport imaginable as well as western shows and movies.  But his absolute favorite activity was dancing the night away in the arms of the love of his life, Judy, to the sounds of their favorite local band, Artisan.

Dean and Judy had a love story for the ages.  From the moment they met at a Parents Without Partners dance, they rarely spent time apart and never lost affection for one another.  Their deep love for one another was palpable even up to the end of Dean’s life.

He will be remembered for the way he loved and cared for all who were blessed to know him and the way he made you feel like you were the most important person in the room just by how he talked and listened to you.  He will also be remembered for how he loved to laugh, and the hugs he would give freely.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Della and Gene, and son-in-law, Brian.  He is survived by his wife, Judy, his children Lee (Therese), Staci, Chuck (Tana), Scott (Amy), Chris (Julie), and Brooke (David), his sister Sherry (Mike) as well as 16 deeply loved grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

To know Dean was to love him and the world is dimmer without him in it.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
