Obituary of Myra DeNeui
Myra Jane DeNeui passed away unexpectantly from a hemorrhagic stroke on Thursday, September 5, 2024, having attained the age of 75. She was the daughter of Corney and Eva DeNeui of Chancellor, South Dakota. She graduated from Chancellor High School and received her BA from Augustana College in Sioux Falls South Dakota in 1971.
Myra became a teacher after college but quickly decided teaching high school kids was probably not her career path. She went into sales for Wang which was the genesis of a lifelong career as a sales rep in information technology services, retiring from Hollstadt Consulting. She spent the rest of her career aligning her personality with her love of sales and found the perfect fit. She understood that relationships were what makes a business.
At one point Myra served as a Board Member of the National Lutheran Choir in Minneapolis. She attended Augustana Lutheran Church and quickly formed a circle of friends in the Augustana Choir. She not only sang but was an accomplished pianist providing a legacy of wonderful piano solos and accompaniment for her special friend, Dan. She loved her church family and had fun trips to North Carolina with girlfriends, Kathy, DeeAnn, Maxine, and Judy.
Myra loved being “Rah-rah” to many kids including Sarah, Sally, Jason, Lexi, Natalya, Gabby, Isabella, Brianna and Cassie. She attended many sporting events including two generations of school/club volleyball and basketball games - and loved every minute of it. She shared a love of Husker Football once the “dedicated” Nebraska fans entered her family.
Travelling was a passion and included a tour of Europe right after college. She enjoyed
six additional trips to Europe with her life-long friend, Diann and goddaughter Sarah. The annual girls trip to Mexico along with Deb was another anticipated highlight. Good friends, good times, good food and good laughs were always a part of Myra’s life. Myra had a sisterhood with many women.
Myra played a weekly competitive game of Scrabble at Mary and Bob’s house. She enjoyed a life-long friendship with Celeste, Krista, Bella and Seamus.
Myra had a profound impact on her nieces and nephews and their children and was frequently on the road to watch various sporting events and performances. She loved hosting friends and family in the city and always had a spare bedroom or couch available for both short- and long-term visits. Her door - like her heart - was literally always open.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dick, sister in-law Sally, and niece Traci. She is survived by her nephews: Dan (wife Meagan and daughter Owsley), Darren (wife Katie and children Emma (Austin) and Eli), Todd and Traci’s children, Abriana and Aiden. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews, travelled to see them and loved being “Auntie Myra.”
She left us abruptly, and it’s still sinking in as our new reality. It’s super slow going. We miss her every day and know that she is looking down and smiling at all of us.
