Amy Collins

Obituary of Amy Cassandra Collins

Amy Cassandra Collins, b. 12/14/1965. Died peacefully in her home on 8/15/2024 after a long battle with breast cancer, with friends and family at her side.

Preceded in death by Steven Mattick (partner and love of her life) and Bailey, the amazing wonder dog. Survived by parents Gretchen and Robert (Pamela); sister Tracey (Keven); brother Chris (Akuwa); best lifelong friends Patrice Taylor, Darcy Elliott, Karen MacGregor; family friend Tim Hamlin (Nancy); aunt, cousins, and many, many, many friends.

Amy was brightness and love and everything good in the world. She was a people magnet that could walk into a room and make anyone smile. She was feisty and resilient, with a quirky sense of humor. A graduate of Hopkins High School, Class of ’84, she worked in the food service profession most of her adult life, eventually becoming a catering manager in the hotel industry.

Amy loved to swim and golf, but mostly, she loved being an adventurer, traveler and culinary expert with partner Steve. They lived the boating life on the St. Croix River in their 28ft. cabin cruiser, even venturing into the waters of Lake Michigan. They took countless cross-country trips on their motorcycle, bringing back many funny, crazy stories of their travels. Eventually they became snowbirds, buying an RV and spending winters in southern climates, which led to Amy’s ultimate dream to live full-time in Arizona. At home, they were the consummate foodies, every meal turning into a new delicious adventure in cooking. Over their 30+ years together, they shared an amazing life that they truly lived to the fullest.

Amy was adored by everyone who knew her; those who were lucky enough to know her were made better by the light of her presence. She loved life and her people and fought bravely until the end. Her time on this planet was simply too short.

Wishing you peace, sweet Amy. You will be missed so very, very much.

A celebration of Amy’s life is being planned. Post life arrangements have been made under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
