Obituary of Barbara Doerres Johnson

Barbara Doerres Johnson, age 74, of Richfield, MN passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Born on November 23, 1949, Barb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose dedication to preserving traditional textile arts has made a lasting impact throughout Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN and Seattle, WA communities, and beyond.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Dewayne Albert Doerres and Esther (Nykvist).

She is survived by Steve D. Johnson, Sr., the love of her life and father to their four children; daughters Stephanie Johnson and Candace Johnson; son Steve D. Johnson, Jr. (and grandchildren Isaac, Sofia, Nadia), and son Benjamin Johnson (and grandchildren Benjamin Jr., Sean); her dog Stella who she loved dearly; as well as many other friends and colleagues.

Please join Barb's family for a service of remembrance at Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel located at 7110 France Ave S., Edina, MN 55435, on Friday November 22, 2024, at 11:30 AM; followed by a reception and light lunch at 12:15 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (https://www.mcad.edu/support-mcad/give), ensuring that her legacy of teaching textile arts continues to inspire artists for years to come. Alternatively, donations to the Animal Humane Society of Minnesota would also be appreciated.
