Obituary of Henry Delmar Forneris
Henry (Del) Delmar Forneris, 94 of Duluth, died peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2024, at Edgewood Vista Memory Care in Hermantown, MN.
Del was born on February 9, 1930, in Duluth, MN. to Dominick & Jennie Forneris. He graduated from Proctor High School & later enlisted in the United States Army. He served time in Germany after WWII. He was later stationed at Fort Hood, Texas where he met & married Zora Kay Loggains.
He enjoyed ice fishing, bowling, golfing, bocci ball, horseshoes, volleyball, baseball, cribbage, gardening and puzzles. He was a member of the West Duluth Moose and Pine Hill Lutheran Church. Over the years, he loved to introduce all his grandkids to the Lakehead Harvest Show in Esko.
Del worked for the United States Cement Plant until it shut down. Then, he worked at Minntac Mining in Mt Iron until he retired. After that, he worked as a security guard at the ME International Foundry in Gary New Duluth & the Carlton Recycling Center with the “Brown Socks Club” aka: the BS Club.
He is survived by his 4 children: John (Nancy), David (Jill), Ronald (Susan), Della (Gary) Jenny; 8 grandchildren: Jeni (Rick), Cheri, John, Nick, Tony (Nicole), Kaden, Beckie and Mandy (Nick). 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Sister-in-law Buna Loggains and many nieces & nephews.
Del was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years and his parents. Brothers: John (Elva) Forneris, Ronald (Jane) Forneris. Father and Mother-in-law Phyllis & Oleta Loggains. Brothers-in-law: James Loggains & Christopher (Lynn) Loggains. Son: Donald Forneris & Grandson: Bradley Forneris.
The family would like to thank: Jen R, Denton, Janelle, Kim & Michaela from Memory Care. Heather & Paule from Caring Edge Hospice and a special thank you to Jenae, Anthony, Jerry, Maricar, Veronica & Nancy C. Your expertise, compassion and wonderful care for Del (Grumpy) was greatly appreciated.
Memorial Service on Saturday, September 7th at the Cremation Society, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN 55807. Visitation 11:00am, Service Noon, Reception to follow.
