Obituary of Donna Mae Valdez
Donna Kulenkamp De Leon Valdez, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 14th in St Louis Park, MN. She was born on July 31st, 1935 to Father Ernest Kulenkamp and mother Eleanor Litchke in St Paul, MN. Donna was a cherished sister to Sharon and John, and a loving mother to sons John De Leon, David De Leon, Tony Valdez and daughter Jacqueline De Leon Wallin
Donna was known for her pioneering spirit and passion for ballet and figure skating. She performed in Pops Concerts and Icel Shows, then went on to work at the Ice Center, where she founded Skaters Workshop, where she shared her expertise and taught skaters the art of ballet's grace on the ice, which included two Olympians, Kathy Watanabe and Jill Trenary.
In addition to her love for figure skating, Donna had a deep appreciation for arts and crafts, which she enjoyed sharing with her sister Sharon. Family was the center of Donna's world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity that will live on through her children and grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her daughter Jacqueline De Leon Wallin, and 2 sons John De Leon, and Tony Valdez; her sister Sharon Gillitzer & husband Robert Gillitzer, and Godson Marc Gillitzer; as well as 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded by her first husband John De Leon, and her second husband Leon Valdez, as well as her son David De Leon.
