Obituary of Linda A Jones

Linda A. Jones August 24, 1944 - July 26, 2024

Linda Anne Jones, 79 years old, lost her 4-month battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Richfield, MN. She was born on August 24, 1944 in Morristown, New Jersey.

Linda is survived by her husband, Fred Johnson, sister Tracy Higgins (Mike), brother Steve Jones (Carol), brother Mike Jones, step-children Kelly Bloomer (Mark) and family, Shawn Snyder (John) and the Buck families , Mary Challis (Ken) and family, Karen Johnson (Benoit), Brad Johnson, nieces and nephews Jim Hernon (Chris), Danielle Spiewak (Tadd), Gretchen Corteen (Jon), Marli Kreuser (Mike), Claire Jones, and Jillian Jones, great-nieces and nephews Stephen Hernon, Logan Hernon, Zack Spiewak, Sam Spiewak, Luke Corteen, Grace Corteen, Loren Kreuser, and Coco Kreuser. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Mary R. and Fred R. Jones, brother Rick Jones, and brother Jerry Jones. She had such a love for her cats over the years too including Pyewacket, Ole, Emily, and Missy.

Linda attended Catholic Annunciation School, Holy Angels and Edina high schools. She attended St. Teresa College and went back to complete her degree in Business at Metro State University in her 40s. When widowed in her 40s, she went to work at accounting firms Peat Marwick and McGladrey & Pullen where she made many lifelong friends.

Linda loved adventure - she and Fred were perfect for each other, they enjoyed many travels together, both abroad (Europe as a favorite!) as well as many road trips close-to-home and coast-to-coast within the USA and Canada. She was a loyal friend and held many long-term friendships from primary school, high school, work and beyond. Linda always looked forward to trips to Illinois to visit her siblings for holidays and to catch up with multiple generations at the annual family reunion. She carried on a tradition from her prior marriage of going to the Guthrie with her stepdaughter, Kelly, and enjoyed having grandchildren nearby. While close to home, she and Fred enjoyed movies, theater, the arts, and music. She loved walks in nature, books and book clubs, dining, and community involvement. She was a life-long learner regularly taking U of M OLLI courses. Linda was very grateful for 25 years in an English cottage in the Diamond Lake neighborhood and almost 5 years in an Italian villa across from Wood Lake.

Like she confronted her previous struggles in life, Linda handled her latest challenge with grace and serenity. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
