Obituary of Dorothy Mae Parker
Dorothy Mae (Larsen) Hurt Parker, 84, affectionately known as Dot, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Edgewood Memory Care with her loving family at her side.
She was born March 4, 1940, in Duluth, MN.
Dorothy grew up in Proctor and graduated in 1958. She was a member of choir, band and participated in the famed Mr. Moody’s Marching Band. She married Richard Hurt in 1958 and they lived briefly in Oklahoma and Minneapolis before returning to Proctor. Dorothy spent early years raising her three daughters. In 1983, she continued her education at Duluth Area Vocational Technical Institute and went on to work various clerical jobs at JCPenney, Kmart and ICO. In 1986, she married Raymond Parker and resided in Lakewood Township.
Her daughters will forever cherish Dot’s love of music and silly sayings. Her homemade fudge was the highlight at Christmas along with spritz cookies. She loved to have Sammy’s pizza at least weekly.
Dorothy was a nature lover. She enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was gardening or strolling through the woods and bird watching. She spent her summertime camping and fishing. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her cat Tia. Dorothy enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling and was an avid book reader.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Parker, her parents Charles and Ingrid (Rude) Larsen; sisters Corrine Larsen, Charlene White and brothers Raymond and Robert Larsen.
She is survived by daughters Linda (Dave) McKeever of Duluth; Laurie Ludemann of Cloquet; Sherry (Robert) Englund of Buffalo; grandchildren Amanda (Ben) Delich, Julie (Nate) Ward, Blake Ludemann, Alyssa Englund, Annika Englund, Samuel Englund; great grandchildren Nora, Clara and Ellie; sister Betty Miller; sister-in-law Barb Larsen; and many nieces and nephews.
