Obituary of Nancy Louise Erikson
Nancy Erikson, 76, of West Sacramento, CA passed away in the early hours of June 21, 2023,
at her sister’s home in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Nancy grew up in Minnesota where she was born on January 4, 1947. She was the oldest of 3 girls.
Her favorite place to visit was the family cabin at the lake; it was her true home and where she spent much of
her time, exploring and adventuring.
Nancy was always determined. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher while working, going to school and a full-time mom.
She was a very devoted educator, serving several school districts in the Sacramento area as a Middle School Special Education teacher, for the
majority of her teaching career. She went above and beyond for her students refusing to give up on them no matter the struggle.
Nancy retired a few years ago yet couldn’t stay away from the schools. She worked part time until the Spring of 2023.
When Nancy wasn’t’ busy with her work you could find her watching the Vikings football team among all the other teams, playing
cribbage, dotting or doing jig saw puzzles. She was also quite social and she dearly adored her book club and all their get togethers.
She also cherished the time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Merlyn Erikson and her sister Kathy Erikson.
She is survived by her sister Joanne Darrington of Nebraska, her sons Brian Cunningham (Lyndsie) Sacramento CA, Rick Cunningham (Therese) Missoula MT,
7 grandchildren: Jacob, Cameron, Elijah, Hannah, Quincy, Lainey, and Briley, 3 great-grand-children Mila, Teagan and Cassius;
a nephew Matt, a niece Abby, 2 grand nephews and 1 grand-niece in Nebraska.
Nancy will be missed by many and remembered always for the love and genuine kindness she shared with all of those around her.
