Todd Folstad

Obituary of Todd Alan Folstad

Todd Alan Folstad, age 60, passed away surrounded by family and friends on July 20, 2024.

He was born on October 22, 1963, to Roger and Celia Folstad in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in and around Minneapolis before the family moved to Bedford, Indiana; then Buffalo Grove, Illinois, before settling in Blackduck, Minnesota, where Todd graduated from Blackduck High School in 1982. He attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth for a year before transferring to Bemidji State University to finish his Bachelor of Arts degree.

While at Bemidji, he nurtured his life-long passion for singing as a member of the Bemidji State Choir. This led him to become a founding member of the Bemidji State Alumni Choir in Minneapolis. The Alumni Choir has been a central part of his life for over 23 years.  He has also performed with various other choirs and groups over those years including The River City Singers, the Oak Grove Lutheran Church Choir, and the 9-11 Tribute Chorus.  He was also a chorus member who sang for a Game Of Thrones concert and was one of the virtual singers on Eric Whitacre's Sing Gently, virtual chorus #6 in 2020.

Todd was a fierce friend with a strong faith.

He was preceded in death by his father Roger in 2005.

He is survived by his mother Celia, his sister Tammy, numerous cousins, and scores of friends who have become a second family to him.

A service will be held for Todd on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Lutheran Church at 7045 Lyndale Avenue South, Richfield, Minnesota.  A meeting for remembrance will begin at 10:00 am before the service.

In the words of my brother, if you want to remember me, do something kind for another like volunteering to help at a school or church, forgive someone, tell someone that they have made your life better, make someone smile or just try to see the good in most situations no matter what.
