Obituary of Daniel Francis Padrnos

Daniel Francis Padrnos, age 91, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Born on March 9, 1933, in Dodge, Nebraska. After serving in the US Army Reserve, he returned to marry Vonny Kelly in 1956, in Minneapolis, MN. Together they raised 4 children.

Dan’s first job occurred at General Mills where he was part of the team that developed Angel Food Cake. Following this, he, alongside his beloved wife Vonny, embarked on a remarkable venture by purchasing a resort on Gull Lake in Brainerd, MN in 1977. Together, they transformed a modest cabin resort into a thriving retreat complete with townhomes, chalets, cabins, and numerous amenities such as pools and a tennis court. This endeavor was not just a business but a shared passion that brought joy to many families over the years.

An avid deer hunter, Dan cherished the fall seasons spent on the family hunting property, a tradition he enjoyed alongside his son and grandchildren, fostering lasting memories. Dan's culinary skills were another source of joy for him and his loved ones. He derived great joy in cooking large meals for his family, turning simple gatherings into memorable feasts.

Dan’s legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Vonny Padrnos, and their children: Norma (Bob) Padrnos-Usset, Dan (Sue) Padrnos, Diane (Jason) Padrnos, and Joan (Jeff) Padrnos-Heinz. He was a cherished grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

A private service will be held to honor Dan’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
