Obituary of Alice Jeanne Johnson

Alice Johnson, 89, of Duluth died peacefully Sunday, July 14th, 2024, surrounded by her family at Hilltop Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in 1934 to Emmett and Frances Surch. Alice graduated from Cathedral High School and then attended DBU. She was an insurance underwriter before marrying Clyde Johnson in 1961. Together they raised three children. Alice was a devoted mother with wonderful wit and a great sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant brother, Emmett Jr; and sister, Mary Kay St. Marie.

She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Haller; sons, Michael (Diane Mozol) and Chris (Candice); sister, Geri Francisco; grandsons, Brendan and Grant; and her adopted sister, Sandy Stauty.

The family would like to thank Essentia Health, Ecuman Lakeshore and Hilltop Health & Rehabilitation Center for all the kind and compassionate care she received.

Per Alice’s wishes there will be no service. “Just remember to laugh every day.”
