Obituary of Brian S. Eckstein

Brian S. Eckstein, age 66 of Burnsville, MN passed away on July 3, 2024. Brian was born in 1958 in Marshall, MN, to Leo and Lorna Eckstein. Brian was an avid baseball player in his youth and this passion continued into adulthood. Brian enjoyed reminiscing about his appearance in the 1976 State Baseball Championship game. He graduated from Moorhead State University in 1980, and in 1981, he married Hillary Fobes of West. St. Paul, MN. Brian was a program manager at Lockheed Martin in Eagan, MN for over 30 years, which allowed Brian to share his love for aviation with his grandchildren. Brian loved taking on the role of being “Papa.”

Brian was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2022 and battled for the next eighteen months. Brian fought through surgeries, radiation treatments and chemotherapy before his passing.

Brian is survived by his spouse Hillary, children Lindsey and Alex (Anna), three grandchildren, and his brothers.

The family wishes to thank his numerous doctors and nurses with the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank, MHealth Fairview Cancer Center - Edina, and his hospice nurse, Alyssa, with St. Croix Hospice.
