Obituary of Rosalie Jean Schlief

Rosalie Jean Schlief, 81, of Brainerd, MN, went to be with our Lord and Savior June 25, 2024. She was born August 12, 1942, in Simpson, MN, to Walter and Evelyn Royce.

Rosalie was a 1960 graduate from John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN and she married James C. Schlief, Sr. in 1964.

She loved being a secretary and worked at the World Travel Bureau and IBM in Rochester and at Brainerd Regional Human Services Center in Brainerd, MN, in addition to the bookkeeping duties for her husband’s business.

She is survived by her four children, Kathleen (Stephen) Upgren of St. Joseph, MN; James (Michelle) Schlief Jr. of Big Lake, MN; David (Valdee) Schlief of Sauk Rapids, MN; and Donna (Keith) Knicker of Ramsey, MN; ten beloved grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Schlief; grandson Chase Schlief; sister Marilyn Ormand; brother Ronald Royce; brother-in-law Roger Ormand.

Rosalie loved horses and enjoyed reading and playing games with her children and grandchildren. She always had a soft spot for the 4H Club and often talked about her experiences with them. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and generosity. She had a deep desire and passion for people to know and understand the loving nature and saving grace of Christ Jesus.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Baxter, MN, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Committal service will follow at the MN State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN at 1:00 p.m.
