Obituary of Dawn Marie Kingsbury-Hrubienski

With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Kingsbury-Hrubienski, who peacefully departed from this earth at her home in Columbia Heights, MN, on May 20, 2024, at age 67.  

Born July 12, 1956, in Minneapolis, MN, she was the beloved daughter of Warren Carrigan Kingsbury Sr. and Marlys Jean Kingsbury (Hage). 

Predeceased by her parents and her loving spouse of fourteen years, Abraham Hrubienski, Dawn Marie’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her three children: Angelique Shawntel Kingsbury (Minneapolis, MN), LeVon Bernard Tibbetts (Minneapolis, MN), and Bernadette Marie Kingsbury (Shoreview, MN). Her five beautiful grandchildren, Denzel Arrington Kingsbury (Laura), Xavier Dakkar Kingsbury, Alexis Sarde Brown, Kayla Li Tibbetts, and Samaya Li Tibbetts, will remember her fondly. She is survived by her brothers Mark Hage (Finlayson, MN), Scott Hage (Minneapolis, MN), and Warren Carrigan Kingsbury, Jr. (Mille Lacs County, MN).

Dawn Marie, a daughter of the North Minneapolis community, had a vibrant and straightforward personality that illuminated any room she entered. Her laughter and playful nature were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her love for travel and curiosity infused her life with adventure, making it akin to a Hollywood film. She appreciated music in all genres, seasoned her share of pots & pans with her delicious cooking, and loved her grandchildren fiercely.

Known for her “green thumb,” Dawn Marie could get any plant to grow with her gentle nurturing. Daisies were her favorite flower. Her mother, Marlys Jean, remarked that Dawn Marie had a soft and sweet bedside manner, a quality she brought to certification classes to become a Medical Assistant as a young woman and volunteerism in the community as an older adult. Dawn Marie was a strong yet tender soul, resilient beyond measure, leaving behind a fashionable sunglasses collection, a well-kept residence, and a void that could never be filled.

On what would have been her sixty-eighth birthday, Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., we will gather at The Northside Healing Space at 2100 Emerson Ave N, Minneapolis, MN, to honor and celebrate Dawn Marie's life. This will be a private memorial remembering Dawn Marie in the presence of close family & friends. This is not a time for sorrow but to remember the moments we loved her most and when she, too, loved us. Food and fellowship will follow.
