Obituary of Stephen J. Bakke

Stephen J Bakke, 79, of Annandale and more recently, Maple Grove, Minnesota passed away peacefully on June 17th.

Steve was born in Morris and after moving around the state his family eventually settled there and he attended high school. After serving in the Army, his 40 year engineering career led him to develop munitions packaging and precision-guided weapons solutions that ultimately saved countless lives.

He was loved by family and friends and will be remembered as an easy going guy with a big smile and wonderful sense of humor. He loved the outdoors especially his up north cabin, boats, campers and ATVs.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Harry, mother Doris, and brothers Tony and Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joan Newton-Bakke, sister Beth Michaelis, sons Jeff Bakke and Jon Bakke, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

A memorial service and reception for Steve will be held Tuesday, June 25th, at the Brooklyn Park Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Park. The gathering begins at 10:30am with memorial service at 11:00am, and reception and luncheon at 11:30am.

His family would like to thank all those who touched Steve's life over the years, and appreciate the kindness provided by amazing caregivers who helped him through the final months of his life.
