Obituary of GeNae Elizabeth Zugschwert Blomberg

GeNae Elizabeth Zugschwert Blomberg, age 30,  passed away on June 8th 2024 peacefully at her home in St. Paul, MN surrounded by her family. 

GeNae was born May 22nd, 1994, in Edina, MN to Albert Zugschwert and Misti Zugschwert (Blomberg). She was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Cystic Fibrosis shortly after she was born.
GeNae fought a cancer battle at age 16, and again when she was 24 with breast cancer. In 2022, her final battle with cancer began.

GeNae met her boyfriend, John Oakley, in 2015 while her and her roommates were shopping at Cub Foods for a box of cupcakes . John joked about stealing their box of cupcakes and they came back into the store to give him one. GeNae and John became friends and they celebrated their 6th anniversary on May 12th, 2024.

GeNae liked to be with family and friends. She was strong & outgoing. She had a love for chinese food & culture. She always talked about taking a trip to China and/or Japan. GeNae loved art & anime and had an extraordinary love for animals - if she could have adopted every animal, especially dogs & cats she would have!

GeNae had no hate in her heart. She saw the good in everyone & She spread this infectious love everywhere she went.

GeNae is preceded in death by her mom Misti Blomberg, step dad Robert Turken, aunts Lila Lockwood, Kristi and Jodi Blomberg, Grandma ReNae Bolduc & Grandpa Clifford Bolduc. 

She is survived by her dad Albert Zugschwert and Stepmom Jenny Kosloski Zugschwert, brother Jacob Blomberg, Cousin Laci Schwegel (Zack Fritz), Aunts Jami Bolduc (Paul Munsch), Sheli Schwegel (Fred Lambert), Penni Blomberg & Uncle, Matthew (Jennifer) Bolduc. 

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 6th, 2024 at the American Legion in Brainerd, MN, 12:30pm - 5:00pm.
