Obituary of John Hirt

John Orin Hirt ~ June 19, 1947 - May 16, 2024

On May 16, 2024 at 12:40am, John Orin Hirt was finally called home to go fishing with Jesus – a moment he had been ready for since he gave his life to Christ at an early age, knowing that he would spend eternity in Heaven. His unwavering faith shone as a light to all around him in both the best and the worst moments he walked through in this life. While John was known for incredible stories that most would consider to be tall tales if they hadn't been confirmed to be true, silly rhymes and good-natured (although sometimes questionable) antics, no one will forget how he welcomed and accepted you as part of his family or how a big bear hug was always ready for anyone who needed it.

Always putting the needs of others before his own, John loved and protected his family, often saying with a smile “it’s my job!”. Though his earthly presence will be missed by countless friends and family, his strength, loyalty and steadfast love remain a source of comfort. This is felt deeply by the love of his life, Kathie, wife of 52 years; his constant sparkle and beloved daughter, Cyndi, and her husband Craig; Fishing Buddies and Cohorts in a plethora of adventures, grandchildren Nick, Austin and Peyton (Austin’s betrothed).

There will be two tributes held for John - you are welcome to attend either or both. The family asks that neither occasion be treated as a solemn event, instead focusing on the joy and life of John. There will be time during both services for you to share your favorite memories of John.
