Timothy Giesinger

Obituary of Timothy Paul Giesinger

Timothy passed away at home on June 2nd at the age of 56 from natural causes. Born (June 29, 1967) in Bismarck ND.

Timothy wore many hats over the years - and Hairstyles.

In school he excelled in the drama department with roles as an actor, designer and student director. He was an early adapter in the 80’s with the changing scenes in music, fashion and hair styling, inspiring his friends along the way. He began the hard road, at that time, of coming out, and being true to his own self. Not without a struggle -but his courage/bravery paved the way for many others to do the same and show a thriving life of being gay and proud.

After high school, Timothy studied cosmetology in Bismarck, finishing his degree at The Horst Institute of Minneapolis. Tim had the  privilege of being hired by Horst to be a part of the team which opened the first Aveda Salon in Manhattan. There he shared his expertise with the likes of Bianca Jagger and so many others who were curious to know more about this MN-born company and its approach. Upon returning to the Twin Cities, Timothy began managing the Horst and Friends, (later called Aveda) salon in Edina where he grew his network of interesting and creative friends and colleagues across many disciplines.

In his spare time, Tim enjoyed supporting the local theatre scene by volunteering on boards and acting. He had starring roles with Dakota Stage in Bismarck and the Theatre Garage in Minneapolis. He loved to travel and was an avid reader.

In 2002, Timothy was part of a  team which brought the 9th World Choral Festival to the Twin Cities -Organizing choirs from around the world to perform to packed houses throughout the metro.

In 2005, Tim brought much of his management and marketing experience to great use in his work with the Target Corporation, working with planning, advertising, promotion and marketing.

Most recently he was the lead concierge at The Waters of Edina. A job he loved.

Timothy was a wonderful entertainer and host throughout his life, bringing together so many people from a wide range of communities. His intelligence and sense of observational humor made for the most memorable stories and laughter.

He was devoted to his family and friends throughout his life, and when he met Brian, he gained an additional family and group of friends whom he grew to love and cherish. (And their marriage was a catalyst for many connections made by their friends across the globe.)

Preceded in death by: His father Lucas, his birth mother Alice and brother Joseph.

Survived by: His husband Brian, mom Darlene Giesinger, sister Marie Giesinger, brother Jonathan (Ismael) Giesinger, sister Sherry (Charles) Stahlberg, Aunt Helen (Giesinger) Brew as well as many cousins and friends.
