Obituary of Joyce Carolyn Reimers

Joyce C. Reimers passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024. Born on March 28, 1944 in Morris, MN, Joyce lived a life full of love, dedication, and vibrant pursuits. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lydia Reimers, siblings Arnie, Lois, and Bill, and her beloved kitties. She is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews.

Joyce enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, where she was known for her commitment and meticulous work. She loved sharing stories of her time at MnDOT, especially her travel across the state. Her passion for contributing to her community extended well into her retirement, finding joy in volunteering at the Minnesota History Center, including serving as a History Day judge, and at local churches.

An avid gardener, Joyce's green thumb could transform any garden into a beautiful sanctuary. She was also enthusiastic about staying active, including ballroom dancing, yoga, tai chi, and working out at the Y. Her love for cats was well-known, and her kitties brought her immense joy and companionship throughout her life.

Joyce was fiercely independent and cherished her solitude, yet her heart was always open to new adventures and experiences. A voracious reader, Joyce often lost herself in the pages of a good book, finding solace and adventure in the stories she read.

Even though Joyce was afflicted by Alzheimer's, her strong spirit prevailed, and she continued to conquer life in her own unique way. Her determination and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her, especially during the last years of her journey.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church on June 14th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery.
