Joyce M. Johnson, age 91, of Inver Grove Heights, passed peacefully on May 4, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Godfrey and Julia Chalin Johnson and her siblings Chester Johnson, Wendell Johnson and Carolyn Talbert.

She is survived by nieces and nephews Nancy Marchionda, Barret Johnson, Mark Johnson, Holly Crocker, Julie Murphy, Tim Talbert, as well as several grand nieces and nephews.  

Joyce was born in St James MN on March 20, 1933, and graduated high school in 1951. She attended college at Gustavus Adolphus in St Peter, graduated in 1955, and taught High School English and Theatre in St Louis Park and then South St Paul.

Joyce loved her family and her many friends, the theatre, classical music, and art. She enjoyed traveling, and spending summers at her lake home in St James. Joyce was a voracious reader, with stacks of books of all genres either waiting to be devoured, or gifted and shared. She was fiercely independent, thoughtful and very gracious, a great cook who loved to entertain and made family Thanksgivings and Christmases special. She had a deep and abiding faith and was active in her church.

Joyce’s Celebration of Life service will be held June 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church,1575 Charlton St., West St Paul. Visitation is at 10:00 am, private interment.
