Obituary of Chester M. Nelson
Chester M. "Corky" Nelson, 73, of Duluth, passed away after a long battle with heart disease Saturday, May 7, 2016, in Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center.
Chester born Jan. 23, 1943, in Duluth, to Chester E. and Marvel Nelson. He was a 1961 graduate from AlBrook High School in Saginaw, and on Aug. 10, 1973, he married Nancy J. Cooke.
Chester worked at Qwest Communications for over 31 years and also post-retirement for 10 years at Equipment Rental. He was a member of the National Guard for six years.
Chester was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Cooke.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Nancy; children Matthew (Lindsay) Nelson, Molly (Karl) Broderius and Marybeth (James) Hamilton; grandchildren Tyler, Trent, Tanner and Tia Broderius and Haiden and Piper Hamilton; sisters Raelene (Tom) Obeidzinski, Marcia (Joe) Jedlicka, Pam (Dave) Bicking and Cheryl (Bob) Hedin; mother-in-law Josephine Cooke; sister-in-law Susan (Daniel) Hodnick; and other relatives and many friends.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
