Keith Felland

Obituary of Keith David Felland

Felland, Keith David, age 84, loving husband and father of 3, died of a failing heart in his home in Columbia Heights on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Keith was born in Ladysmith, WI, on Sept. 6th, 1939. He graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1957, attended Vocational School for two years, and served in the National Guard. He moved to Minneapolis, where he met and married Carol Ryker on February 24, 1962. He worked at Minnegasco (Center Point Energy) in various departments for 38 years, retiring in May 1998.

Keith had a generous and forgiving nature. He would greet you with a genuine smile, a handshake, and a kind word.  Keith did a fair amount of fishing and spent much time hunting at his family’s shack near Ojibwa. He liked to cook, listen to 50’s music, travel, and he loved the Minnesota State Fair.  At the fair, he’d have a hot dog and listen to music at one of the outdoor venues for hours. Christmas was a big deal to Keith, and in his earlier days, he made charcoal drawings.  He also built an addition to their house in Columbia Heights.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Manter and Daisy Felland, and his sister, Sylvia Schmeling (Herman). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; sister, Gayleen Duzy (John); brother, Eric Felland (Karen) daughters, Beth Kimball (Mark) & Rebecca Felland Syring (Todd), son, Jon Felland (Pam); grandchildren, Ben Kimball, Mike Kimball, Sam Kimball, Emma Syring, Rachel Syring, Emily Felland, Jake Felland, great-grandchildren, Brody & Brynlee Rae Kimball, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A gravesite service will be held on Monday, May 13, at 11:00 AM at Hillside Cemetery, 2600 19th Avenue NE Minneapolis. A light lunch will be served immediately following at Faith United Methodist Church, 2708 33rd Ave NE, St. Anthony, MN 55418. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Allina Health Home Hospice and Faith United Methodist Church St. Anthony.
