Obituary of Arnold Paul Weigel
Weigel, Arnold Paul September 12, 1923 May 9, 2016, passed away peacefully on May 9th of natural causes. He was 92 years old. Arnie was preceded in death by parents Eugene and Margaretha Weigel; brother Karl Weigel; sisters Julie Pantermuehl; Lillian Bauer; Ester McCrary; wife Dorothy, and former wife Ivah. He is survived by daughters Barbara Teed; Nancy Jensen (Gary); son Eugene (Mary); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and special friend Joan Oberuc. Born in Hebron, North Dakota and raised in St. Paul, Minn., Arnie was the youngest of five children and the last remaining sibling of his generation. He attended Hamline University, and was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. In the early years raising his family in St. Paul, Arnie was known in the neighborhood for his keen storytelling abilities as well as skills in making skating rinks and snow slides in the backyard. He was one of those people who always made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. Outgoing and upbeat, Arnie always made those around him smile with one of his famous jokes. He loved reading, growing roses, crossword puzzles and classical music. Arnie owned a real estate company in South St. Paul, then worked for many years as a realtor in new home sales in the Minneapolis area. Arnie was a member of the West Suburban Shrine Club and a volunteer for SCORE. The family wishes to thank health care aide, Ramon Sime. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18, United Church of Christ, 900 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN. Visitation, 10 AM; Memorial Service: 11 AM; reception follows. A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling on Friday, June 17. Memorial gifts to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
