Obituary of Judy Doonan
In loving memory of Judy Doonan, whose journey began as the youngest of nine children born to Basil and Lillian Doonan in the quaint town of Willow River, MN, on September 19th, 1942. Her remarkable life touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her family and friends.
Residing in Deerwood, MN, Judy found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to her flowers, reading and apple tree. She enjoyed spending time with family from weekly coffee club with her siblings to the occasional meat raffle.
But Judy was far from ordinary—on her 78th birthday, she embraced her adventurous spirit and ziplined down Fremont Street in Las Vegas, NV, embodying the essence of youthfulness and fearlessness. Her zest for life and willingness to embrace new experiences remained undiminished, inspiring all who knew her.
Judy shared a special bond with her great-grandchildren, always present and delighting in their hockey games and gymnastics and figure skating performances. Her presence at these events was a testament to her unwavering support and deep love for her family.
Even as she battled the challenges of COPD, Judy remained resilient and determined, facing each day with grace and courage. Her tenacity and strength carried her through until April 3, 2024, when she peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of her family.
Judy is survived by her loving child, Tammy (Dean) Utermarck, her adoring grandchildren, Megan (Justin) Hynnek, Jeremy (Katie) Utermarck, Cameryn Mosier, her cherished great-grandchildren, Grayson, Emilia Hynnek, Keely Utermarck, her furry companion, Jinx. Siblings Shirley Meyer, Al (Jan) Doonan, and Rose Seely, her extended family and friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Lillian Doonan, siblings, Flora Warp, Jim Cook, Betty Booth, Eleanor Isle, Basil Doonan Jr., and daughter, Regina Mosier.
Though she may have bid farewell to this world, Judy's spirit lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared. Her adventurous soul, caring nature, and unwavering love will continue to guide and inspire us all, reminding us to embrace life fully and cherish every moment.
A celebration of Judy’s life will take place on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion of Deerwood, MN.
