February 27, 1933 - April 14, 2024
Gervaise Anne (Lindgren) Berg of Oakdale MN, formerly of Alexandria MN, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Region’s Hospital in St Paul MN at the age of 91.
Gervaise was born February 27, 1933 to Clifford M and Anna O (Olson) Lindgren in Willmar MN and grew up on a farm in Pennock MN. She attended grade school at the Kandiyohi Country School, across the road from the family farmstead and graduated from Willmar High School in 1950.
Gervaise started working at the Bank of Willmar, attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, then began working in Reservations at Northwest Airlines in 1953.
She started dating Ralph Gerald Berg, of Willmar MN, and they were married in 1957, having two children, David and Carrie.
Gervaise worked as a seamstress and tailor and various other jobs during marriage, taught her children and granddaughters how to sew and continued to sew clothing, draperies and quilts throughout her life. She loved arranging flowers and started her own business Flowers Forever, selling silk flower arrangements, at a time when they were popular in homes.
She realized her life-long dream of traveling to Sweden in 2005, while visiting her daughter, who was living in The Netherlands with her family at the time.
She loved life, spending time with family and friends and staying active, playing bridge/cards, growing colorful flowers and vegetable gardening, sewing, painting and reading.
Gervaise loved the Lord, attended church, participated in Bible studies and read daily devotions.
Gervaise will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 67 years Ralph Berg; children David (Denise) Berg of San Diego CA and Carrie Berg (Tom Prentice) of Winter Haven FL; grandchildren Eric Berg, Christine Prentice, Adam Berg and Cynthia Prentice; sisters Sonia Collier and Merry Rue (Jim) Visger and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gervaise was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Anna Lindgren, and siblings Harvey Lindgren, Marilyn Hall and Marvin Lindgren.
Her funeral/celebration of life will be 11:00am, Saturday, May 25th at Grace of God Lutheran Church, 420 Hayward Ave N, Oakdale MN with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery pending. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers and/or Memorials preferred to Grace of God Lutheran Church.
