Obituary of DeWayne Richard Mickle
DeWayne Richard Mickle, Age 84 of Bloomington, peacefully passed away on March 30th, 2024.
DeWayne was born to Glen Mickle and Mabel Ruth Christianson on August 20th,1939 in Sioux Rapids, IA. He grew up on a farm near Montevideo, MN and graduated from Boyd High School in 1957.
He was involved in many school activities, including editor of the school paper, library committee, band, choir and basketball. He was captain of the football team and Homecoming King. DeWayne joined the National Guard before moving to Minneapolis.
He was the youngest Vice President of University Bank and had various jobs before starting DeWayne Insurance Associates, selling health insurance and Medicare plans. DeWayne was passionate about his clients and always had stories to share with them. He was still working up until the time of his death.
He was a Shriner and played in the Drum Corps. His favorite times were the fishing trips up north, catching big Northern pike, with his sons and grandson. He enjoyed trips to Branson, musical events and going to the casino.
He was married to Lois Verlo, and they had two sons, Bradley and Douglas. He married the love of his life, Lori Langston, in 2008 after dating on and off for over 35 years.
His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: sons Bradley (Kelly Waldera) and Douglas, stepdaughters Teresa (Alan) Wessels and Laurel (Steve) Erickson, grandchild Brandon, step grandchildren Britta and Reid, brother Gary (Elvern), sister Sandy (Gordy) Meyer and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald and wife Lori.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 18th at Bloomington Lutheran Church, 9350 Portland Ave. S, with a gathering 1 hour prior. Services provided by the Cremation Society of MN.
