Anita Wiita

Obituary of Anita Wiita

Anita (Schinigoi) Wiita, 89, passed away while at home at New Perspectives, Cloquet, MN, on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024.

Anita was born June 6th, 1934, in what was once known as Pola, Italy, to Federico and Paolina (Faraguna) Schinigoi. On August 21st, 1951, at 17 years young, she moved to America. Shortly after arriving, she fell in love with the boy next door. She married Edwin Wiita on September 1st, 1954, in Duluth, MN, at St Peter’s Catholic Church.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers - Umberto “Bert”, Enzo, Guido, and Mario - and a great-grandson, Connor.

Surviving are her siblings, Franco and Maria. In addition, Anita is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Anita enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and gardening - where she grew beautiful flower beds and roses. She loved a good sale! She also loved being outdoors at the cabin by the lake. She especially loved being surrounded by family; it brought such joy to her heart. Anita will be remembered as being well- mannered and proper, but every now and then, her quick wit and humor would catch you off guard. She made us all laugh; being around her, all you could do was smile. She is loved and will be missed by many.
