Julia Poehling

Obituary of Julia Holley Poehling

Poehling, Julia H. I came into the world in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 28, 1940. Anxiously awaiting my arrival were my dad and mom, Don and Nola (Sahling) Holley. My grandmother Alice Bobbit Sahling Norris and my uncles William (Jack) Sahling and Loren Holley and Aunt Marjorie Holley were there to spoil me too. Five years later my brother Jim joined us and three years later Bob came along. We had a great childhood as we grew-up in 5 mid-western states Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. A return to Iowa after I married the love of my life and bestest friend Leo Poehling. Our return to Minnesota was where we spent the rest of our 63 years together. Meeting Leo when I was in sixth grade was my greatest gift. I chased him for seven years before he caught me. We were married on August 13, 1960, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Winona, Minnesota. God blessed us with five unique children: Greg (Amy), Holley Jo (deceased), Tim (Kris), Ben (Lynne), and Tony (Meredith). Ten grandsons, three granddaughters and two great-grandsons joined us along the way: Rob, Joe (Gabrielle), Andy, Beaumont, Nick (Casey), Jack (Sammie), Ryan, Luke, Rhett, Harper, Leo, Sam, Gianna, Julia, and George. On April 11th, 2024, I peacefully passed away at N.C. Little Hospice surrounded by Leo, Greg, Tim, Ben, and Tony. I am not gone; just moving on. Miss me but let me go. I live in your heart and memories we shared. Miss me but let me go. Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Edward in Bloomington, MN at 11:00am on April 23rd with visitation starting one hour prior. Celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the ceremony. Interment at Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Richfield. Memorials preferred to donors' choice of CommonBond Communities, Nativity of Mary School in Bloomington, Midwest Jesuits, and Little Hospice.
