Obituary of Gladys M. Boatman

Gladys M. Boatman, 86, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2016, in The Lighthouse, Cloquet. Gladys M. Boatman was born March 13, 1930, at Cloquet, Minn., the daughter of Fred A. Steffen and Carrie (Lamb) Steffen. Gladys graduated high school at Brookston, moved to Duluth to work at Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company in Duluth, where she met her future husband Jim. They married on June 20, 1953. Gladys and Jim spent their early married years in Proctor, and then moved to a home that they built with their own hard-working hands near Munger. Gladys enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; sister, Grayce (Petersen); and brother, Donald. She is survived by daughter, Gail; son, James Jr. (Debra); grandchildren, Matthew (Jackie), Brittney, Mackenzie and Niklas; great-grandchildren, Bria and Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend its warmest thanks to the staff of The Lighthouse of Cloquet, for their kind and thoughtful care of Gladys and her family. VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
