Shari Gieseke

Obituary of Shari Ann Gieseke

Shari Ann Gieseke, a spirited and compassionate soul from Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away at the age of 63 on April 2nd, 2024. Her final day was peaceful, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to MaryJane and the late Douglas Millay, preceded in death by brother Michael, Shari danced through life to a soundtrack filled with meaningful lyrics and soul-stirring melodies. From the reflective tones of Alanis Morissette’s "Thank U" to the hopeful lines of "The Rose" by Bette Midler, her life was a beautiful collection of moments that echoed the themes of her favorite songs—gratitude, resilience, and profound love.

Shari wore her life experiences like a well-loved vinyl record, each scratch and note playing a testament to her strength and tenderness. Her career as a Personal Care Assistant was not just a job but a calling, as she imparted lessons of love and learning, much like the lyrics of "You Learn."

She leaves behind a melody of memories with her devoted husband, James, daughters Tiffany, Delanie and Danaca, and cherished grandchildren Madison, Mikyla, Grayson, Nova, and Jade. Brother Joe and Sister Kim and loving mother, MaryJane. Shari's spirit, like the chorus of "Carry on Wayward Son," invites us to reflect on our journey and find peace in our continued song.

A memorial service to honor Shari's life will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Brooklyn Park on Sunday April 14th, 2024 at 1:00 with visitation 1 hour prior.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to One Tree Planted, an organization dedicated to restoring forests, creating habitat for biodiversity, and making a positive social impact around the world, would reflect Shari’s lifelong love for nature and her desire to leave the world better than she found it.

Join us as we celebrate Shari, a woman who opened her arms to all, and loved them like her own.
