Obituary of Dorothy G. Thiry

Dorothy G. (Skog) Thiry, 94, longtime resident of the Duluth area, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, in Golden Oaks Advanced Living in Hermantown. She was born March 14, 1922, in Sturgeon Lake, Minn., to Louis and Evelyn Skog. Dorothy was a 1940, graduate of Proctor High School and went on to earn a Practical Nursing Certificate. On April 6, 1943, she married Gailord W. Thiry. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gailord in 1997; two sons, Lee and Mark; a granddaughter, Gaile Brynn Thiry; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Brian (Diane) of Munger; eight grandchildren, Eric (Angie), Marty (Chrissy), Brett (Tabitha), Hollie (Matt) Walto, Kevin, Jennifer, Aaron and Matt (Marina); 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Breuer of Poulsbo, Wash., and Margaret Hill of Fair Oaks, Calif.
