Gaard, Arthur K. Beloved Husband, Father Grandfather & Great Grandfather Went home to Jesus on Tuesday, May 17. Born in Elmore Township on October 29, 1928. Graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Served in the Marine Corps, then taught history and social studies. Graduated from Augustana Theological Seminary in Rock Island, IL. Served as Lutheran pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran in Woonsocket, RI, Trinity Lutheran in Watertown, MN, and Holy Trinity Lutheran in St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by parents Clarence and Grace Gaard and siblings Thomas (Doris) Gaard, LaDonna (Arch) McDonald, Anne (Walfred) Newman, Donald Gaard, Ruth (Jack) Armstrong, and Audrey (Ralph) Roforth. Survived by Dorothy, wife of 64 years, children Barbara (David) Koziol, Bruce (Laurel) Gaard, James (Robyn) Gaard, Carol (Peter) Voigt, and Audrey (Vint) Johnson; grandchildren Patrick (Caroline Crocker) Koziol, Katie (Trevor) Tiburzi, Kristin and Michael Koziol; Dan (Kat), Rachel (Brandon Miller), and Andrew Gaard; Ashley, Ben, Luke, and Peter Gaard; Naomi (Peter) Eckert, Paul, Jonathan, Sarah, and Solomon Voigt; and Eric and Karl Johnson; great-grandchildren Penn Tiburzi and Ellie Eckert. Also survived by numerous family and friends. Funeral service 10:30 AM on Friday, May 27 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave. S., Minneapolis. Visitation at the church prior at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Foundation or the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.
