Obituary of Elna Marie Beckrich

Elna Marie Beckrich, 97, of Cloquet, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in Sunnyside Care Center. She was born on Oct. 20, 1918, in Duluth, the daughter of Selim and Maria Lamminen. Elna graduated from Esko High School. She attended beauty school and worked for a small beauty shop on the west end of Cloquet. Elna married Jerome Peter Beckrich "Sonny" in 1939, and together they had two children, Robert "Jerry", and Mary "Mia". She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting, knitting and baking. She knitted mittens and hats and crocheted doilies and "scrubbies". She was well known in the community for randomly passing out the scrubbies she made. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome "Sonny"; and her brother, Robert "Bob" Lamminen. Elna is survived by her son, Robert (Mary) Beckrich; daughter, Mary (Dean) Lutzka; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and one nephew.
