Obituary of Bonnie Schminski-Hall
Bonnie Schminski-Hall born August 16, 1964 to William and Frances Schminski in Grand Rapids, MN. Passed March 28, 2024. Raised on a dairy farm near Floodwood MN she was taught to work hard, always be ready to lend a helping hand and family is everything. Bonnie held these values very close to her heart especially her family and never wavered even in her final days here with us.
Bonnie attended Floodwood High School graduating with the class of 1983, she was the polar bear with the cheerleading squad. She was also one of the original members of the Polish Foxes, as her and a crew of friends would travel around to local Polka festivals dancing the night away. If a good polka came on you can bet - Bonnie was already out on the dance floor smiling and having a good laugh.
She attended Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, MN for a time before she came back to her family’s farm in Floodwood MN. She worked as a milk tester while tending to the family farm alongside her brother. Bonnie worked at FST where she attended to the clients. If you wanted an interesting story these are the times you asked about when you talked with her. Her caring didn’t stop with her family, after spending time at home with her children Bonnie returned yet again to helping people, she spent time as a para professional in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Bonnie enjoyed helping people, she especially loved spending time helping little children grow and learn.
On April 30, 1994 she married Steven Hall in the Hope Lutheran Church, Floodwood MN. Together they raised 5 children in the home they built just outside of town. Where there was always a baseball game going on in the front yard and flower gardens being tended to. Steve would say “Bonnie took care of the kids, I just took care of Bonnie”. We all know they were a team, through thick and thin they did it together. Bonnie was always busy doing something either it be making crafts for a local sale, tending to her beautiful flower beds or running off to some sort of sporting event for the kids, Bonnie wasn’t one to be caught sitting down without having something to do, even if it was just to read a book - she was going to be doing something. Bonnie was always looking for a new craft, or way to express her love for art. If she wasn’t at the door to meet you when you went to the house, you could find her in her craft room, soaking up the sun and listening to either her favorite worship songs or her toe tapping polkas.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Barb Bittrich. She is survived by her devoted husband Steven, five children Adam Schminski(Steph), Justin Hall, Emily Hall, Eric Hall and Anna Hall (all of Floodwood MN). One grandson Rory Schminski. Bonnie is also survived by her sisters Carol Schminski (Duluth, MN) Betty Deno(Roger) (Waterville, MN) and brother Jim Schminski (Floodwood, MN). Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Bonnie’s medical team from Essentia Clinic and the hospital staff who gave her the tools and support to spend as much of her time with family close by.
