Obituary of Arlene M. Tesch
Born Arlene Johnson on November 14, 1925 to parents Emily and Charles, she was a force of nature from the start. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye and an excellent sense of humor, she charmed everyone she met. She wore many hats throughout her long and adventurous life as a sister and daughter growing up on Crooked Lake, Anoka High School graduate of 1943, mother of five, longtime member of Zion, secretary at Hoffman, avid golfer, and master of relaxing at the cabin. Gert spent her last eight years at Benedictine Living Community in Anoka and found some of her best friends in the staff who took care of her and became part of her family.
Preceded in death by husband Donald “Ferd” Tesch, sister Geneva Johnson, and brothers Dan and Jerry Johnson. Survived by sister Shirley Sorenson, children Barb (Gene) Case, Jeff (Diane), Becky, Patty (Brad) Quam, and Tom, grandchildren Molly, Abbi, Kiki, Noah, Hannah, and Max, great-granddaughter Arwen, and many loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Her love knew no bounds, and she cherished her family above all else. Gert’s wisdom, wit, and warmth will be sorely missed, but her spirit will live on in the countless memories we shared.
A visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka on Monday, April 8 at 10:00 am with a service at 11:00 am and lunch to follow. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials in honor of Arlene can be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka.
Gert loved Sundays when she visited with her girls and scanned the obituaries for any familiar names. She’s happily looking down this week to see herself honored in her favorite section of the newspaper.
