Harvey Van Horn

Obituary of Harvey Junior Van Horn

Harvey Junior Van Horn, son of Harvey and Lila (Endresen) Van Horn, was born September 12,
1945 in Morris, MN, the youngest of 7 children. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in
Morris and spent his young years living in the area. He later moved to Minneapolis, MN. After
high school Harvey joined the Marine Corp and returned to Minneapolis after his service. He
worked various jobs in Minneapolis until meeting Diane Nygaard. They married August 17,
1974, at Urland Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, MN. Harvey and Diane moved to
Montevideo, MN where they welcomed and raised their three girls. They later divorced and
Harvey eventually settled back in Morris.

Harvey took up woodworking and made a cedar chest for each of his daughters. He loved music
and passed on that love to his girls and his grandchildren. He also loved to joke and jest and
didn’t take life too seriously. Harvey was a member of the Morris Legion and spent many hours
there. He had many special friends in the area including Jim (Roxanne) Rooney and Barb
(Richard) Barsness, his “money mom,” who shared friendly banter with him and spent time with
him in the last months of his life.

Harvey Junior Van Horn, 78, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the St. Cloud VA
Medical Center.
