Obituary of Kathleen Barbara Jones

It is with deep sadness we share Kathy passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 24th at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family.

Kathleen was born at St. Mary’s Hospital on September 17, 1950, to Raymond and Verna (Kochevar) Thoreson.

She graduated from Morgan Park High School as part of the Class of 1968 and was awarded the Hunt Scholarship. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota - Duluth.

Kathy retired after 35 years with Thies and Talle Management as their Property Manager.

Kathy was an avid reader and loved nothing more than curling up with a good book or watching endless movies with her daughter, Janelle.

Her travels with her dear work friends held a special place in her heart, but what she loved most, was her Friday night dinners with her devoted children - nothing made her happier.

She had a great sense of humor and loved laughing at herself. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Jim Thoreson, who passed a mere 23 days before her, and her beloved dog, Diggy.

She is survived by her children: Scott (RaeAnn) Jones, Jamie (Scott) Braaten, Janelle Jones; her former Husband, Eugene Jones with whom she shared 33 years of marriage; her brother, Tim (Julie) Thoreson, sister, Patti (Mark) Stenhammer; grandchildren: Camden, Carsen, Brady, Paige, Kadin, Tiara, and Reece; and several nieces and nephews.

We will celebrate Kathy on Saturday, March 9th at Peace in Christ Lutheran Church, 5007 Maple Grove Road, Hermantown MN 55811.

Visitation from 10-11am, service at 11am and luncheon immediately following.
