Obituary of David R Payne
David R Payne of Woodbury, MN passed away on February 19, 2024 at the age of 72 after a brief bout with pneumonia.
Dave was well traveled as an avid downhill skier and a past President of Sitzmark Ski & Social Club in the Twin Cities, however, his real passion was boating and socializing on the St Croix. His brand of choice was SeaRay and over the years he owned them in many shapes and sizes.
Dave was born in Eau Claire, WI to the late Rodney & Mary Lou Payne. He attended Rhinelander Union High and after graduation in 1969 he attended the Univ of Wis Eau Claire where he was a cheerleader and earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1973. He spent the majority of his career in the insurance industry before retiring in 2013 as a rep for Kemper Insurance.
Dave is survived by his family in Wisconsin – a sister Mary Ellen (Patrick) Hall, a brother Mark, and a nephew Christopher along with many, many friends and associates.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date near his beloved St Croix River.
